About VanMoof

VanMoof was founded in Amsterdam in 2009 with the ambition to create the perfect city bike. Today, its multi-award winning e-mobility collection offers a design-focused, high-tech and feature-rich experience for a global community of city riders. In 2023 VanMoof was bought by McLaren Applied, which established a new leadership and a new rider-focused vision. As well as selling its rides directly online, VanMoof outsources servicing and sales to its ever-expanding partner network of e-mobility specialists and retailers in over 150 locations across seven countries, from Paris and Amsterdam to Berlin and Copenhagen.

About the founders

Taco and Ties Carlier founded VanMoof in 2009. With backgrounds in industrial design—and a complete lack of bike industry know-how—they were able to flip the concept of a city bike on its head, and reimagine cycling for the cities of tomorrow. Over the past decade, the brothers stripped out unnecessary parts, improved the essentials, and integrated technology to stick it to bike thieves, headwinds and heatwaves. Earning numerous awards along the way, the Carlier brothers are committed to getting the next billion on bikes
