which size suits me best?

The VANMOOF bikes come in many different frame and wheel sizes. Some of the models are “one size fits all” with a very wide range of adjustment on the saddle and handlebar. But for most models there are limitations on the rider's body length.

  • 20” wheel size bikes: Body length of 150cm (4,9ft) till 200cm (6,6ft)
  • 26” wheel size with #3 and #5 frames: Body length of 150cm (4,9ft) till 175cm (5,7ft)

    Specifically developed to address the demands of urban commuting, the bike’s onboard computer monitors your cycling behavior via a sensor, adjusting the bike’s electric power – supplied via the small, lightweight motor in the bike’s front wheel – accordingly. Whether you’re going uphill, downhill on the flat, SMART POWER ASSISTANCE takes the sweat out of urban commuting, getting you around town more comfortably than ever, in characteristic VANMOOF style.

    integrated, 30-60km range

    A powerful battery is completely integrated within the frame in a safe and protected area inside the top tube. The battery can be charged at home or anywhere where you have an electrical connection. After charging the battery the bike will use that energy to give you the riding support through the motor in the front wheel.

    Charging: With the bike comes an outboard charger, that can be plugged in the wall socket. The other plug of the charger needs to be plugged in the bike through a small and easy plug. An LED indicator on the charger will tell you when the battery is fully charged, it takes 3 hours for a complete charge.

    Range: When fully charged, the battery will have enough energy to support you for an average of 40km, more than enough for a heavy commuter ride! Many different elements influence the range. Some situations can only get you 30km, whereas some customers have reported up to 60km. The biggest cause of this fluctuation is operating temperature, with temperatures below 0 degrees almost cutting your range in half. Other elements are wind direction, rider weight and road conditions (hilly or flat).

    Lifetime: Lithium battery’s have a lifetime of about 600 cycles before the capacity will drop below 80% of its original capacity. We recommend changing the battery after those 600 cycles, but this can be done whenever it is required. Changing to a new battery is an easy job, and takes about 30 minutes. We recommend changing battery at one of our certified dealers, or we can arrange your bike to be picked up if you don’t live close to a VANMOOF dealer.

    Who says cycle technology can’t learn from the car industry? The VANMOOF 10 Electrified comes with an ingenious system to help you retrieve your bicycle in the event of loss or theft. GPS tracking systems are already widely used in the car industry; now it’s part of your urban biking experience. VANMOOF 10 Electrified offers the solution to tracing the location of your bicycle, should it go astray. This is the Holy Grail for urban cycling, effectively rendering theft obsolete.

    Integrated into the anodized aluminium frame of the VANMOOF Electrified is a discreet dashboard that offers complete control of all of your bike’s key functions. An intelligent interface between cyclist and machine, its display features both a battery indicator and a motor power indicator, allowing you to keep track of your progress at a glance..

    What’s more, the corresponding remote control allows you to turn your bike on and off as required.

    automatic 2 speed shifting

    On VANMOOF bikes you will only find complete integrated gearing solutions. We believe the outside gearing solutions are not suitable for a commuting bicycle, as they require maintenance and get damaged too easily. The integrated gear (internal gear hubs) is situated in the rear wheel, where it’s well protected. It’s a simple solution and it gives us the opportunity to completely cover the chain as well, making the whole drive train maintenance free.  

    On the Electrified there is no need for many gears, because the power assistance is constantly there to help you when you need it. Therefore we've used only 2 gears, with the lightest gear similar to most single speed bikes, and the heavy gear for comfort riding at high speed. What's most exciting is that the gear shifting is completely automatic! At exactly 18km/h the bike will shift gears. In combination with the power assistance, this is the ultimate solution for an electric commuter bike.

    anodized aluminium

    The bicycle you’ve selected has an aluminium frame with an anodized treatment. This is unique for bicycle frames, and at VANMOOF we are very proud to say we are able to offer bikes with this outstanding treatment. Thanks to this treatment, the aluminium surface becomes extremely tough, which in turn makes painting unnecessary. The anodized treatment also gives the aluminium its beautiful natural colors, with all the welding lines exposed. What you see is what you get.

    The logo is laser engraved into the frame. Not only is it beautiful, it’s also very durable as it is almost impossible to damage.

    The material we’ve select for this frame is very high quality aluminium 6061 alloy. A bike frame has a lot of forces to work with, and we want ours to stay in great shape for its whole life. Every VANMOOF frame is hand welded by the best skilled workers. After all the welding is done, and every possible measurement is performed, the frame gets a heat treatment to make the aluminium even stronger from the inside out.

    front and rear disc-brakes

    The type of brake system on your bike actually determines the character and purpose of the bike. For our VANMOOF bicycles we’ve selected a small collection of different brakes, one is not necessarily better than the other, but suits a different usage of the bicycle. We believe that brakes for an urban commuter must be light weight, low maintenance and most importantly: should not make your clothes dirty. 

    The bike you selected uses a mechanical disc-brake system with 140mm discs on the front and rear. The disc brake system is light weight and has amazing braking power in any weather condition. There will be no brake pad dirt on your wheels or bike (unlike a rim brake system). It is not 100% maintenance free; it requires an easy adjustment every 6 months when used daily. At VANMOOF we believe the small sized disc brakes are the most suitable brake system for a commuter bike, they’re clean, light, and low on maintenance and can be used on every road and in every weather condition.

    We believe that your place on the road is well deserved and that you should emphasize this as much as possible. Together with Philips we have developed a fully integrated lighting system that enables you to make yourself seen, while at the same time lighting the road around you. Based on Philips’s Luxeon technology and designed by the car industry’s best optical engineers, the front light delivers an astonishing 40 lux, which is roughly the same as most motorized vehicles. Your rear light is enlightened by a homogeneous ring of light, suitable for a confident ride in any dark alley.

    The light is powered by a dynamo that is hidden inside the front wheel, so you never have to worry about running out of power. Simply turn on the lights by the switch on the frame, and as long as you’re moving the lights will do their job. When you stop at a traffic light, the lights will stay on for 2 minutes; making sure you are seen by other road users.

    semi-upright

    The ergonomics of a bicycle determines its character. The position of the handlebar, saddle and the pedals will determine if you will sit upright like a gentleman or have your head down like a racing cyclist. Before you select your bicycle, it is wise to think about how you would like to get around town.

    The semi-upright position combines the best of two worlds. This position will allow you to ride fast while still sitting in an upright position. It is also found on many French velo’s of the ’70s, and is nowadays found on long distance trekking bicycles. At VANMOOF we like this position for our commuting bike, because you always find the best riding position whether you’re in a hurry or just cruising around. The handlebar can easily be adjusted in height before you start using your bike. Put it higher for a more upright riding position.
